programs around. Our "Odysseys" place an emphasis on conservation,
community, tourism and sustainable development in several of the World's
most stunning countries. ANYONE can take part (and earn credit) in our hands-on
programs through Costa Rica, Panama, South Africa, and the Virgin Islands.

Bringing Sustainable Travel to Study Abroad®
At its very core, international education is about travel to develop cross-cultural understanding, to experience the global village in which we live, and to witness the wild wonders of our planet. That said, it is important to take advantage of study abroad programs to illustrate the impacts of travel and tourism. From the carbon footprint to the direct impact to small local economies, travel associated with study abroad can play a dramatic role in sustainable development.
EcoAbroad works directly with study abroad and educational travel program providers who have addressed sustainability in study abroad. This includes: educational checklists on sustainable and responsible travel; carbon management associated from air and ground travel; eco-certification of tour operators and accommodations; and verification of service-learning and volunteer programs.
EcoAbroad customizes, coordinates, and promotes sustainable, active, experiential, exciting, hands-on study abroad programs, consortia, facilities, and internships. Current offerings can be found in the Caribbean, Central America, and South Africa. These programs have made a commitment to sustainable development and responsible travel, expand cross-cultural understanding, and strengthen environmental awareness.
